Where can I buy Hebrew National in East Texas?
Q. In fact, any source of kosher food in East Texas? I'm missing my BoTampte and such as well...I can do without the gefilte fish though, thanks, it seems to be the only thing on the shelf here and it's usually ancient. I will drive anywhere between Shreveport, LA and Tyler, TX since I have to go out of town to get any groceries really anyway.

A. This is a hard one. I searched all over and came up with next to nothing. Here in Indiana we have Hebrew National at Wal-mart so I would check there first. The only other thing I could suggest is if you are pretty hard up for some kosher food, try this site. They will ship Kosher meals to you. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

A. I saw my first robin today. Usually they are here in February. The clover is up all over the place. There are birds here all year long. About now they are resting here and on their way - passing through back north where they came from. In Houston - the intersection of Weslayan and Westpark - there are about 50,000 birds roosting on the telephone wires, the street signs, and the roofs of building. They're out there. Get out with your binoculars.

I didn't think much of these sightings until an extremely credible individual that I know saw one cross the highway while going to work one morning. He works at a school in the back woods here in East Texas. He indicated that the large cat was chasing a large dog, and that they disappeared in the woods. East Texas vine growing in moss?
Q. I live in east Texas,and was at a friends house when two squirrels knocked a dead limb out of a tree,on the limb I found moss with a vine growing through it,the vine has fern like leaves this is a small plant and it seems to require very high humidity,I removed the bark cleaned the moss and plant and placed it in my vivarium has been growing well for a couple of weeks anyone have any ideas as to what this plant is?

A. Definitely. They remove the moisture in the air and that makes you feel cooler. The only thing is that you have to dump the reservior of water when it is full and try to find one where the bacteria won't be a problem. (They make anti-bacterial reservoirs and filters now.)

Q. It has about 6 acres of open pasture and the rest is thick with trees. It also has a lot of greenbriar. Thought about selling some trees but no one will mess with such a small piece of land. We do not live there and do not have a lot of money to invest to get something started. Any ideas?

A. You could use the property as a deer lease. I live in East Texas and know plenty of hunters who would love to find someplace to lease during deer season. I know of a company that will cut down your trees -- but you certainly won't make much ... perhaps just enough to hire someone else to clean up the mess after the trees are cut. Once they are cut, there are plenty of tree farms who are begging to lease land to plant their ball and burlap trees. Or, you could purchase the tree liners and plant them yourself then net the profits in a few years. Olive trees are the rage right now and East Texas has good growing conditions for them. Or, you could start a Christmas Tree farm. Lease it to cattle farmers. grow hay and sell it to farmers.… [cont.]
