Drawing is a visual art that makes use of any number of drawing instruments to mark a two-dimensional medium. Common instruments include graphite pencils, pen and ink, inked brushes, wax color pencils, crayons, charcoals, chalk, pastels, markers, stylus, or various metals like silverpoint. An artist who practices or works in drawing may be referred to as a draftsman or draughtsman.

A small amount of material is released onto the two dimensional medium which leaves a visible mark—the process is similar to that of painting. The most common support for drawing is paper, although other materials such as cardboard, plastic, leather, canvas and board, may be used. Temporary drawings may be made on a blackboard or whiteboard, or indeed almost anything. The medium has also become popular as a means of public expression via graffiti art, because of the easy availability of permanent markers.

How do you find inspiration and portray your ideas into drawing?
Q. I find it really difficult finding out what to draw and how to draw it. When I'm usually home, I like to draw celebrities and things straight out from movies or magazines. I've looked at previous students art portfolios and they're so creative and artisitic. I don't know how to be creative. I'm just so use to drawing what I see in movies or magazines that I dont have any creative ideas of my own to draw. Also sometimes I don't know how to expand my ideas into drawing. Pretend some kind of quote touches me or something, how am I suppose to draw that?

What are the basics for drawing castles? What are important aspects of castles?
Q. I usually draw animals and fantasy creatures. Sometimes I draw people too. I really want to learn how to draw buildings. Mostly, castles and other unique buildings. What are the basics for drawing a castle? What is importnat to remember when drawing a castle? Are there any tutorials for drawing castles? Any other hints on drawing buildings would be helpful.

A. Buildings aren't too hard, there is a lot to be said about shading and detail if you want a nice picture though. I'd sudgest to practice textures and patterns in different shapes before starting on castles though. Like covering cylinders and pryamids in brick so that they could look like viable objects. Otherwise for castles- towers, windows, bricks, firing shoots. Look them up online for pictures and study,.

How to transfer my drawing to a poster board?
Q. I made a drawing of a scarlet letter for a project I'm doing on the book. Unfortunatly, I cannot seem to be able to trace it (its on plain paper, buts going on the glossy side of the poster board). Is there something I can do to copy it? Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!
